How to Fix Missing Images and Text When Sharing Your Pages on Social Media

Troubleshooting the most common issues showing up when sharing your posts on social media networks, such as Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn.

When sharing a page on Social Media, in some cases, the Image (also known as Featured Image) and text might not appear as expected. That's usually because the Open Graph Meta information might be missing.

Use the RankMath SEO plugin to add the Open Graph Meta information on each Page/Post

  1. Install and activate the RankMath SEO plugin

  2. Open the post or page in Visual Builder

  3. Click on the SEO Settings button

    Open RankMath SEO Modal Window

  4. Click on the SEO tab

    RankMath SEO Social Media Tab

  5. Add the Image (at least 600x315px), Title, and Description text

    RankMath SEO Open Graph Editor

Debug the missing Open Graph Meta using the Facebook sharing debugger

  1. Grab the URL of your page or post and paste it into the Sharing Debugger field

  2. Click on the Debug button

  3. Look for the Time Scrapped option

    Scrapped Time

  4. If the time/date is in the past, click on Scrap Again button

This will clear the URL from Facebook's cache, and the new information (image, title, and description text) should be correctly reindexed.

Debug the missing Open Graph Meta using the LinkedIn Post Inspector

  1. Grab the URL of your page or post and paste it into the URL field

  2. Click on the Inspect button

Note: Social Media platforms such as Facebook, X (formally Twitter), and LinkedIn will use the same Open Graph Meta information.
