How to Use the Video Post Format

The Video Post Format in WordPress allows you to seamlessly integrate videos into your posts, making them more dynamic and visually appealing.

In this article, we will guide you through the process of using the Video Post Format to its full potential.

Set the Port format using the Gutenberg editor

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard β†’ Posts

  2. Create or edit an existing post

  3. From the Right Sidebar β†’ Post Format, choose Video

  4. In the Post content, add the Gutenberg Video Block

  5. Set the video URL

  6. Click on the Publish or Update button

Set the Port format using the WordPress Classic editor

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard β†’ Posts

  2. Create or edit an existing post

  3. If in the Right Sidebar, you don't see the Post Format option, click on the Screen Options button (top right corner) and ensure that the Format checkbox is checked

  4. From the Right Sidebar β†’ Format, choose Video

  5. In the post content, insert a YouTube or Vimeo video URL

  6. Click on the Publish or Update button.

The Blog Module will display the Post Video instead of the Featured Image.

Notes:

  • If the Video Post also has a Featured Image set, the play icon will display on top of that Featured image.

  • If the post doesn't have a Featured Image, the embedded Video will show
