Updated today

Divi 5 Visual Builder keyboard shortcuts let you save, undo, redo, move around, and edit modules without hunting through menus. Once you know a handful of shortcuts, you can do most common actions without taking your hands off the keyboard.

Before you start

Make sure:

Throughout this article:

  • Ctrl refers to the Control key on Windows.

  • Cmd refers to the Command key on macOS.

  • When you see "Ctrl / Cmd", use Ctrl on Windows and Cmd on Mac.

How to see all keyboard shortcuts inside Divi 5

Divi includes a built-in helper that lists every available Visual Builder shortcut.

You can open it in two ways:

  • Press Shift + ? while the Visual Builder is active.

  • Or click the Help icon in the builder toolbar and open the Keyboard Shortcuts tab.

The available shortcuts are split into three sections:

  • Page shortcuts

  • Module shortcuts

  • Modal (settings panel) shortcuts

Use that panel as your source of truth. The rest of this article highlights the shortcuts that help most when you’re starting.

Essential page shortcuts

These Divi 5 Visual Builder keyboard shortcuts control the whole page. They work while you’re in the builder.

On Windows (Ctrl) / macOS (Cmd):

  • Save page

    • Ctrl / Cmd + S - Save your layout changes.

  • Save as draft

    • Ctrl / Cmd + Shift + S - Save the page as a draft (doesn’t publish).

  • Undo / Redo

    • Ctrl / Cmd + Z - Undo last action.

    • Ctrl + Y or Cmd + Shift + Z - Redo the last action.

  • Exit Visual Builder

    • Ctrl / Cmd + E - Exit the Visual Builder and view the page normally.

  • Zoom and preview

    • Ctrl / Cmd + + - Zoom in the canvas.

    • Ctrl / Cmd + - - Zoom out the canvas.

  • Open key panels quickly

    • O - Open page settings.

    • P - Open portability (import/export layouts).

    • ? - Show the keyboard shortcuts helper.

For most beginners, remembering Ctrl/Cmd + S, Ctrl/Cmd + Z, Ctrl/Cmd + E, and Shift + ? will already help a lot.

Essential module and layout shortcuts

These shortcuts apply to modules and layout elements like sections and rows. They help you move and style content faster.

Copy / paste modules

  • Ctrl / Cmd + C - Copy the selected module.

  • Ctrl / Cmd + X - Cut the selected module.

  • Ctrl / Cmd + V - Paste the module.

Copy / paste design only

  • Alt + Ctrl + C (Windows) / Alt + Cmd + C (Mac) - Copy a module’s design settings.

  • Alt + Ctrl + V (Windows) / Alt + Cmd + V (Mac) - Paste those design settings to another module of the same type.

Duplicate / Delete element

  • Ctrl / Cmd + Shift + D - Duplicates the selected element.

  • Ctrl / Cmd + Backspace - Deletes the selected element.

This lets you reuse styling without overwriting the content.

Quick structure shortcuts

These are handy once you’re comfortable with the basics:

  • R + 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 - Add a new row with 1, 2, 3, or 4 columns.

  • R + F - Make the selected Row fullwidth.

  • S + 1 - Add a new section with one Row.

  • C + 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 - Change the column structure of the active row.

Use these when you’re doing lots of repetitive layout tweaks. Otherwise, you can keep using the on-screen "+" buttons.

Inline text editor shortcuts

Inline editing is when you click directly into text on the page and type.

While editing text inline:

  • Esc - Exit inline editing and go back to standard builder controls.

All the usual text shortcuts from your OS still work inside the text (bold, italic, undo, redo), but Esc is the main Divi-specific one you need to remember.

How to practice Divi 5 Visual Builder keyboard shortcuts

You don’t need to memorize every shortcut at once. Start small:

  1. Pick 3-5 core shortcuts
    For example:

    • Save: Ctrl / Cmd + S

    • Undo: Ctrl / Cmd + Z

    • Exit builder: Ctrl / Cmd + E

    • Show helper: ?

  2. Use the helper while you build
Press ? whenever you wonder "Is there a shortcut for this?" and check the list.

  3. Add module shortcuts as you speed up
Once the basics feel natural, start using copy/paste design and the row/section shortcuts while you work.

Divi 5 Visual Builder keyboard shortcuts are there to reduce clicks and keep you in the design flow. Learn a few, build a page, and add more over time instead of trying to learn them all in one go.
