Create a New Website Using a Pre-Made Starter Site

Learn how to create a new website using a pre-made Starter Site in Divi 5 with Divi Quick Sites.

Updated yesterday

Divi Starter Sites are full, professionally designed websites that Quick Sites can apply to your WordPress install in a couple of minutes, including pages, menus, Theme Builder templates, and global styles.

Before you start

Make sure:

  • The Divi 5 theme is installed and activated on your site.

  • You have an active Elegant Themes membership, so that Divi can download Starter Sites.

Quick Sites works best on a new or mostly empty site.

⚠︎ Important Note: It can change your homepage, menus, and Theme Builder templates when it applies the Starter Site, so create a full backup if you already have content or custom templates in place.

Step 1: Open Divi Quick Sites

  1. Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.

  2. Go to Divi → Dashboard.

    Divi 5 Dashboard

  3. Click on the Divi Quick Sites card.

Divi 5 - Generate A New Website with Quick Sites

  4. Click on the Select a Website Template button.

    Divi 5 - Select a pre-made stater site template

This opens the Starter Sites browser, where you see all available Starter Sites you can apply to your website.

Divi Starter Sites are complete, purpose-built websites (for things like agencies, restaurants, online courses, etc.) that include pages, Theme Builder templates, and global presets so you start from a finished design instead of a blank canvas.

Step 2: Pick a pre-made Starter Site

In the Starter Site browser:

  1. Scroll through the available Starter Sites and preview their designs.

  2. Hover over the Starter Site you want to use.

  3. Click the Preview button to see a preview of what a specific starter site looks like, and click on the Start With button to select it.

Step 3: Enter your site details

After you select a Starter Site, Quick Sites asks for a few basic details:

Divi 5 - Provide basic details to be used by the Starter Site
  • Site Name - The name of your website.

  • Site Slogan - An optional tagline.

  • Logo Image - upload or select your logo.

  • Pages to include - Choose which pages from the Starter Site you want (for example, Home, About, Services, Contact, Blog).

Fill these in carefully; Quick Sites uses them to personalize the Starter Site that it applies to your website.

Step 4 (optional): Customize Fonts and Color

  1. Expand the Customize Fonts & Colors option

  2. Customize the Headings and the Body fonts and colors

Step 5: Generate and publish your Starter Site

When everything looks good:

  1. Click the Generate & Publish My Website button.

  2. Divi Quick Sites now applies the Starter Site to your WordPress install. This usually takes 1-2 minutes.

Behind the scenes, Quick Sites:

  • Creates all the selected pages (Home, About, etc.).

  • Sets up menus so visitors can navigate those pages.

  • Applies Theme Builder templates for things like the header, footer, and blog layouts.

  • Copies the Starter Site’s global fonts, colors, and presets into your site.

When the process finishes, you’ll see a summary screen with your new pages and templates and a View My Site button.

Step 6: Review your new Starter Site

Click the View My Site button to see your new website.

Divi 5 - Preview the Starter Site

Check:

  • The homepage layout and content.

  • The main navigation menu links.

  • Key pages like About, Services, Contact, Blog, and any others you included.

Remember: any pages you had before still exist in WordPress, but Quick Sites might set a new homepage and update your menus and Theme Builder assignments to use the Starter Site configuration.

Step 7: Edit the pages created by the Starter Site

You now replace the placeholder copy and images with your own content.

You can edit from the Quick Sites summary screen:

  1. In the list of generated pages, hover over a page.

Divi 5 - Delete, Edit, View a Started Site generated page

  2. Use:

    • The pencil icon is used to edit the page.

    • The eye icon is used to view it on the front end.

    • The trash icon is used to delete it if you don’t need it.

Or edit from WordPress:

  1. Go to Pages → All Pages.

  2. Hover over a page and click Edit with Divi.

  3. Update the text, images, and modules with your own content in the Divi Visual Builder.

  4. Save your changes.

Do this for each page your Starter Site created, so nothing is left with demo content.

Step 8: Customize the Starter Site design

Your Starter Site comes with global design settings you can tweak so the site better matches your brand.

Customize Theme Builder templates

Quick Sites copies the Starter Site’s Theme Builder templates into your website.

To adjust them:

  1. Go to Divi → Theme Builder.

  2. Click the Pencil icon on the global header or footer to edit it.

  3. Use the Visual Builder to change the logo, menu, and layout.

  4. Save in the Visual Builder, then click Save Changes in Theme Builder.

Customize global fonts

Option 1 - Theme Customizer:

  1. Go to Divi → Theme Customizer → General Settings → Typography.

  2. Change the Header Font and Body Font to match your brand.

  3. Click Publish.

Option 2 - Divi Builder:

  1. Open any of the generated pages in the Visual Builder.

  2. Open the Global Variable manager.

  3. Open the Fonts tab.

  4. Change Headings and Body font.

Customize global colors

  3. Open the Colors tab.

Divi 5 - Global Variable Manager - Colors

  4. Change any of the generated Global Colors.

Any module using those global colors updates automatically.

Customize global presets

Starter Sites use global presets, so many modules share the same style.

To adjust them:

  1. Open any module’s settings.

  2. Click on the Element Preset dropdown at the top.

Divi 5 - Choose an element preset

  3. Click on the Gear icon next to the preset's name to edit.

Divi 5 - Edit an Element Preset

  4. Change the design settings and save.

All modules using that preset will inherit the new look.

Tips for using a pre-made Starter Site

A few simple habits make it easier to create a new website using a pre-made Starter Site:

  • Use a fresh or lightly used site so Quick Sites can safely set up your homepage, menus, and Theme Builder templates.

  • Always back up first if the site already has content or custom templates.

  • Treat the Starter Site as a solid base: keep its structure, then refine fonts, colors, and presets to match your brand.

  • Edit every page created by the Starter Site so all text, images, and links reflect your real business.

Once you’re comfortable creating a new website using a pre-made Starter Site, you can combine Starter Sites, Divi AI, and your own layouts to spin up new Divi 5 sites very quickly.
