Migrating your website from a local host environment to a live server is crucial in making your site accessible to the public. This process involves transferring your files and database, ensuring that all links and paths are correctly configured, and testing your site to confirm that everything works seamlessly.
This article will guide you through the steps to migrate your localhost website to a live server successfully.
Prepare the export file
Log in to your WordPress local-hosted website
Go to Plugins → Add New Plugins
Install and activate the All In One WP Migration plugin
Go to WordPress Dashboard → All-in-One WP Migration → Export → File
Follow the steps on the screen and download the exported file to your local computer
Import the exported file to the live website
Log in to the Live website
Install the All In One WP Migration plugin
Go to WordPress Dashboard → All-in-One WP Migration → Import → File
Select the exported file (from your local computer)
Once the import is finished, click on the Proceed button
Wait for the confirmation message
Log out and log in again using the old password that you have set on the local website
Go to WordPress Dashboard → Settings → Permalinks
Click on the Save button
