There are multiple scenarios where a Theme Builder template might get deleted by mistake or disappear due to human error.
Deleted or missing Theme Builder templates or individual template parts(custom header, custom body, and/or custom footer) can be restored with the help of a specialized utility plugin, Divi Restore Theme Builder Templates.
Download the Divi Restore Theme Builder Templates plugin
Click the Divi Restore Theme Builder Templates plugin's download link.
Save the plugin's zip file locally on your computer.
Note: Safari users should disable the Open save files after downloading option in the General settings of the browser.
Install the Divi Restore Theme Builder Templates plugin
Go to WordPress Dashboard → Plugins → Add New.
Click on the Upload Plugin button.
Click the Choose File button and find the location of the downloaded ZIP file.
Click on the Install Now button.
Click on the Activate Plugin button
Restore the Theme Builder Templates
⚠︎ Important Note: Before restoring Theme Builder templates or template parts, please back up your entire website.
After plugin activation, a new option called Restore TB Templates will appear in your WordPress Dashboard → Divi.
The plugin's page is divided into 3 tabs (sections):
Templates: Displays all the deleted/missing theme builder templates.
Template Parts: Displays all the deleted/missing individual template parts, categorized by their types: Header, Body, and Footer.
Revisions: Helps recover an older revision(edits) on all of your existing template parts.
How to Restore a Theme Builder Template
Go to Divi → Restore TB Templates.
From the Templates tab, find the template you want to restore.
Click the Restore button.
After the restore process completes, navigate to Divi → Theme Builder and click the All Changes Saved button at the top.
Legend:
Template: Shows the template's name and its unique ID.
Assigned To: Shows the template's assignment.
Linked Parts: Shows what the template contained: Header, Body, and Footer.
Marked Unused: Shows the date when the template was deleted from Theme Builder.
Status: Shows the template's status.
Actions: Allows you to restore the selected template.
How to Restore a Theme Builder Template Part
Go to Divi → Restore TB Templates.
Click on the Template Parts tab.
Find the template part you want to restore.
Click the Export JSON button.
Save the exported JSON file locally to your computer.
Go back to your Divi → Theme Builder page.
Edit the template part (header, body, or footer) for which you want to restore its layout
Use the Divi Portability to import the JSON file created at step 4.
How to Use the Template Parts' Revision System
Go to Divi → Restore TB Templates.
Click on the Revisions tab.
Choose the template part for which you want to restore its revision and click the View Revisions button.
Choose the revision you want to use and click the Compare with current button.
Click the Restore This Revision button.
⚠︎ Caution: When clicking the Restore This Revision button, the current content of the selected part will be replaced with the content of the selected revision.
⚠︎ Note: Deactivate and delete the plugin from your website once the layout is restored.
