How to Manage User Roles

Learn how to manage existing user roles and create custom roles for your team members in Divi Teams.

Divi Teams empowers you to create custom roles and set a wide range of permissions. This allows you to easily control and manage what your team members can and cannot do.

Out of the box, Divi Teams provides 5 standard roles:

  1. Administrator role - it can:

    • Access Billing information

    • View their API keys

    • Manage their API keys

    • View all team API keys

    • Manage all team API Keys

    • View the Account owner's API keys

    • Manage Account owner's API keys

    • Download Themes (Divi and Extra) and Plugins (Monarch and Bloom)

    • Download Marketplace Items (which have been purchased by the Account Owner)

    • Use Divi Cloud

    • Invite users to join the Divi Team

    • Manage User Permissions

    • View Team

    • Download any Perks that the Account owner has

    • This role cannot be modified, renamed or deleted

  2. Manager role - it can:

    • View their API keys

    • Manage their API keys

    • View all team API keys

    • Manage all team API Keys

    • View the Account owner's API keys

    • Manage Account owner's API keys

    • Download Themes (Divi and Extra) and Plugins (Monarch and Bloom)

    • Download Marketplace Items (which have been purchased by the Account Owner)

    • Use Divi Cloud

    • Invite users to join the Divi Team

    • Manage User Permissions

    • View Team

    • Download any Perks that the Account owner has

    • This role cannot be modified, renamed or deleted

  3. Client role - it can:

    • View their API keys

    • Manage their API keys

    • Download Themes (Divi and Extra) and Plugins (Monarch and Bloom)

    • Download Marketplace Items (which have been purchased by the Account Owner)

    • Use Divi Cloud

    • Download any Perks that the Account owner has

    • This role cannot be modified, renamed or deleted

  4. Accountant role - it can:

    • Access Billing information

    • View their API keys

    • Manage their API keys

    • Download Themes (Divi and Extra) and Plugins (Monarch and Bloom)

    • Download Marketplace Items (which have been purchased by the Account Owner)

    • Use Divi Cloud

    • View Team

    • Can Download any Perks that the Account owner has

    • This role cannot be modified, renamed or deleted

  5. Designer role - it can:

    • View their API keys

    • Manage their API keys

    • View all team API keys

    • Manage all team API Keys

    • View the Account owner's API keys

    • Download Themes (Divi and Extra) and Plugins (Monarch and Bloom)

    • Download Marketplace Items (which have been purchased by the Account Owner)

    • Use Divi Cloud

    • View Team

    • Download any Perks that the Account owner has

    • This role cannot be modified, renamed or deleted

Create custom user roles

In addition to those 5 predefined roles, you can also create your own custom roles.

  1. Log in to your Elegant Themes account

  2. Click on the Team tab

  3. Click on the Edit User Roles button

  4. Click on the Add New User Role button

  5. Give the role a name

  6. Choose which permission the role should have by checking the corresponding checkboxes

  7. Click on the Save New User Role button

Any Custom Role can be changed at any time by clicking on the Gear icon. In addition to editing a custom role's permissions, you can also clone any of the default or custom roles by clicking on the Clone icon.

Cloning an existing role speeds up the process of generating new roles.

Delete a custom Role

  1. Log in to your Elegant Themes account

  2. Click on the Team tab

  3. Click on the Edit User Roles button

  4. For the Role you want to delete, click on the Trash icon

Important Note: When deleting a custom role that has at least one member assigned to it, you will have to choose a different role for that member.
