Divi Library in Divi 5

Learn how to use the Divi 5 Library to save, reuse, and manage layouts, sections, rows, and modules across your site.

The Divi Library in Divi 5 is your site’s collection of reusable elements. You can save full page layouts, sections, rows, and modules, and then add them to any page later.

What you can store in the Divi 5 Library

In Divi 5, the library can hold:

  • Full page layouts

  • Sections

  • Rows

  • Modules

You can also save items as global elements, but the core idea is always the same: save an element once and reuse it anywhere.

How to Save elements to the Divi Library

Save a page layout to the Divi Library

  1. Open the page in Visual Builder.

  2. From the top bar, click on the Add to Library icon.

  3. Set the layout's name

  4. Click on Add to Library button

⚠︎ Notes:

  • You can also save a breakdown of your entire page layout as separate Sections, Rows, or modules by selecting the desired option in the Save Individual Items section

  • You can assign the page layout to an existing category or tag and/or create a new category/tag on the fly. This is useful to keep your things organized in the Divi Library.

Save an individual element (section, row, or module) to the Divi Library

  1. Hover over the element you want to save to the Divi Library.

  2. Right-click on it and choose Save To Library from the contextual menu.

  3. Give it a name.

  4. (optional) Choose any of the existing categories or tags, or create new ones to which the saved element will be assigned.

  5. Click the Add to Library button.

Alternatively, you can hover the element you want to save to the Divi Library and click on the three dots icon. From thee select the Save to Library option.

How to Import an Element from the Divi Library

Import a page layout from Divi Library

  1. Open any page in Visual Builder.

  2. Click on the Add Layout icon (located in the top left corner).

  3. Click on the Saved Layout option.

  4. Click on the page layout you want to import.

  5. Click on the Use This Layout button.

⚠︎ Note: If your page already has some elements added, when choosing to import a page layout, you have the option to replace the existing content or not, by checking/unchecking the Replace Existing Content option after selecting the layout you want to import.

Import elements(section, row, and module) from the Divi Library

⚠︎ Important note: Importing elements from Divi Library to your pages is contextual. That means, only a specific element type will be avaiable to be imported, depending on the context from where the import was initiated.

For example, clicking on the Add Section button and choosing the Add From Library tab, it will display only Sections that are being saved to the Divi Library.

  1. Click the Add element button:

    • - Add Section button

    • - Add Module button

  2. Click the Add From Library tab.

  3. Select the element you want to import

  4. Click the Use This Section/Row/Module button.

Pro Tip: After selecting a layout or element to be imported, you can also click on the View Live Demo button to view a preview of the element you are about to import.

Creating and managing items in the Library

Create a new item in the Library

You can also create Divi Library items directly in the Library.

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard → Divi → Divi Library.

  2. Click on the Add New button.

  3. Give it a name.

  4. Choose what type of element you want to create:

    • Module

    • Row

    • Section

    • Layout

  5. (optional) Check the Save as Global option if you want the element to be a global one.

  6. (optional) Create and add the element to a new category.

  7. (optional) Create and add the element to a new tag.

  8. Click on the Submit button.

  10. Build the element.

  11. Click the Save button (top right corner) to save your changes.

  12. Click the Exit button to return to the Dashboard.

Managing items in the Library

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard → Divi → Divi Library

  2. From the Divi Library page, you can:

    • Create new library items (page layouts, sections, rows, modules).

    • Edit existing elements.

    • Delete existing elements.

⚠︎ Note: When adding elements from Divi Library, if you are not sure which type, from the Divi → Divi Library, you can quickly check the type of each element using the Type column:

Import/export items into and from the Library

Export Library items

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard → Divi → Divi Library.

  2. Click on the Import & Export button at the top.

  3. Click on the Export tab.

  4. Give the export file a name.

  5. Click on the Download Export button.

Import Library items

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard → Divi → Divi Library.

  2. Click on the Import & Export button at the top.

  3. Click on the Import tab.

  4. Select the JSON file you want to import

  5. Click on the Import Divi Builder Layouts button

⚠︎ Important Note: The JSON file that is going to be imported must also be exported from Divi Library.
