Settings Search and Filtering System in Divi 5

Learn how to easily find your Divi settings with the new search and filtering tools for a smoother website design experience.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

The new Settings Search and Filtering feature in Divi 5 makes it much simpler to navigate and manage all the design options within your website. This feature is designed to help you quickly locate specific settings and keep track of changes you've made, even if you're not a tech expert.

Use Cases

  1. Quickly Locate Specific Styles: If you need to change the font size on a particular module but can't remember where the font settings are, simply type "font size" into the search bar to instantly find and adjust it.

  2. Review Customizations on a Layout Pack: When you start with a Divi layout pack and make several design tweaks, you can use the Modified filter to easily view all the settings that were changed.

  3. Efficiently Navigate Options: If you're looking for a specific setting, such as padding or margin, but aren't sure which design tab it's located under, you can use the search bar to immediately display it, saving you time by avoiding the need to click through multiple tabs.

How to Access the Search and Filtering System

The Settings Search and Filtering feature is seamlessly integrated into the Divi Builder's interface. It can be found on all three tabs: Content, Design, and Advanced, for any Divi elements, including sections, rows, columns, and modules.

When you open any module, row, or section settings in the Divi Builder, you will see a search bar and filter icons, allowing you to find and narrow down the options you need quickly.

  1. Open the modal settings on any Divi element by clicking on it or by clicking on the gear icon.

  2. Use the Search field or click on the Filter icon

  3. Choose the available options such as:

    • Modified - Filter all the options that were modified across all three tabs.

    • Variables - Filter all fields that use Design Variables.

    • Static - Filter all the fields that contain static content.

    • Colors - Filter all color options, such as Text Color, Link Color, Headings text color, and more.

How to Use the Search and Filtering System

Divi 5 includes powerful new tools to help you find and sort through its many settings:

Settings Search

Imagine you want to change the color of a specific text on your website, but can't remember where that setting is located.

Instead of manually looking through every option, you can now use the search bar to type in keywords like "color," "text size," or "spacing."

Divi will then show you only the relevant settings that match your search, helping you find exactly what you need in seconds.

Example:

If you type "radius," it will display only the "Border Radius" fields found in various elements, such as text modules, blurb modules, sections, and rows.

Filter By Type And State

Beyond searching, you can also filter settings to see only certain types of information.

One particularly useful filter is the Modified filter. This allows you to see only the settings that you have changed from their default values.

This is incredibly helpful when you're using pre-made designs (such as "layout packs" or "starter sites") and want to identify which elements you've customized quickly.
