Updated over a week ago

If you've run the migration to Divi 5 but encountered issues or prefer the stability of the previous version, rolling back to Divi 4 is a simple process.

This article will guide you through the steps to safely roll back and reinstall Divi 4, ensuring your website remains functional and secure.

Step 1: Restore Divi 4 Content

Divi 5 - Restore Divi 4 Content
  1. From your WordPress Dashboard, navigate to Divi → Divi 5 Migrator.

  2. Click the Restore Divi 4 Content button.

Clicking Restore Divi 4 Content undoes the migration and reverts your content to its original Divi 4 state.

⚠︎ Note: Restore Divi 4 Content only recovers content originally built in Divi 4. Any content created in Divi 5 will not be restored.

Step 2: Rollback to the latest Divi 4 version

⚠︎ Note: If you have performed two or more updates to Divi 5, you will not be able to roll back to Divi 4 using the built-in rollback feature. Instead, please follow the Step 4: Manually Reinstall Divi 4 instructions in the section below.

Divi 5 - Rollback from Divi 5 to Divi 4
  1. From your WordPress Dashboard, navigate to Divi → Theme Options.

  2. Click on the Updates tab.

  4. Confirm the rollback.

Step 3: Return to Divi 4 Updates Path

Divi 5 - Disable Divi 5 Updates Path
  1. From your WordPress Dashboard, navigate to Divi → Dashboard.

  2. Click the Disable Divi 5 Updates button.

Disabling Divi 5 updates switches you back to the Divi 4 update path. You will only receive Divi 4 updates going forward.

⚠︎ Note: You can always return to the Divi 5 Updates Path by clicking the Enable Divi 5 Updates button in Divi → Dashboard page.

Step 4: Manually Reinstall Divi 4

Once you restored the Divi 4 content, you need to reinstall Divi 4 by downloading the latest version and overwriting the Divi 5.

  1. Log in to your Elegant Themes Account.

  2. Go to the My Downloads section.

  3. Click on the Download the Divi Theme button.

  4. Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.

  5. Go to Appearance Themes.

  6. Click the Add New Theme button (at the top).

  7. Click the Upload Theme button (at the top).

  8. Choose the Divi.zip file, which was downloaded in Step 3.

  9. WordPress will detect the previous Divi installation and will give the option to override with the new one (downloaded at step 3).
