A workspace is a saved configuration of the Divi 5 Visual Builder itself - your builder preferences (like Interface Mode and Page Bar Icons) plus the builder's layout (window arrangement, sidebar, which panels are open, current view, and breakpoint).
Switching workspaces instantly rearranges the builder to match that saved setup. Workspaces never change your page content - only how the builder looks and behaves.
This article explains where to find Workspace Settings, the difference between Website, Your, and Premade Workspaces, and how to save, switch, and manage your own.
Where to Find Workspace Settings
You can open the Workspaces Management by clicking on the Workspaces icon![]()
located on the left sidebar. Workspaces are managed in the Workspace Settings modal inside the Visual Builder.
At the top of the modal is the Active Workspace selector. Open it to see every workspace available to you, with a checkmark next to the one that's active.
Builder Default View Mode - Choose what would be the default view when the Visual Builder is open. The default is Desktop view.
History State Interval - Choose how often an action is saved in the History panel. The default is After Every Action.

The Three Workspace Groups
The Active Workspace selector groups workspaces under three headings:
Website Workspaces - contains Global, the website-wide workspace. Global is shared across the site rather than tied to your user account. Out of the box, Global is the default workspace.
Your Workspaces - your own custom workspaces, listed alphabetically. This group appears once you save at least one workspace. Custom workspaces are saved per WordPress user, so each editor on the site keeps their own set.
Premade Workspaces - Divi's built-in starting points: Builder and Minimal. These are read-only presets. The only action available on a premade workspace is Set as Default Workspace.
Save a New Workspace
Arrange different builder panels such as Layer Views, Variable Manager, Inspector, etc, the way you like, pick your Interface Mode, choose your Page Bar Icons.
Open Workspace Settings by clicking on the Workspaces icon

Click the Save as New Workspace button.
In the Save Workspace modal, enter a name in the Workspace Name field.
(Optional) Enable Set As Default to make this workspace the one the builder loads automatically.
Click the Save button.
💡 Tip: Create one workspace for building (wireframe view, all page bar icons on) and one for client presentations (minimal toolbar, light mode). Switching between them takes one click.
Switch and Manage Workspaces
To switch, open the Active Workspace selector and click the workspace you want. The builder rearranges itself to that saved setup.
When the active workspace is not a premade one, six quick actions appear above the list:

- Open the Edit Workspace modal, where you can change the name of the selected workspace.Duplicate Workspace
- Duplicate the selected workspace.Update Active Workspace
- Save your current builder state into the active workspace. Reset Active Workspace
- Revert the active workspace to its initial state.Delete Workspace

Update Active Workspace - Updates the current active workspace.
Reset Active Workspace - Resets the current active workspace.
Type the Workspace name - You can switch to any workspace by typing its name.
