How to Fix Missing Updates Notification

Learn how to identify the causes of missing update notifications in the WordPress dashboard and how to fix them.

Updated over 3 months ago

Keeping your theme and plugins up-to-date is crucial for security and functionality, but sometimes, update notifications can go missing, leaving your site vulnerable or outdated.

If you are sure a newer version of our products (Divi, Extra, Monarch, or Bloom) is available, yet you do not see any update notifications when going to WordPress Dashboard → Updates, then the problem is most likely that the theme's or plugin's folder name has been changed

Examples:

  • If you're using the Divi theme, you must ensure the folder is called Divi and not any other names such as Divi-2, Divi-old, Divi-new, etc.

  • If you're using the Extra theme, you must ensure the folder is called Extra and not any other names such as Extra-2, Extra-old, Extra-new, etc.

Check if the Theme folder is correctly named

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard → Appearance → Theme

  2. Hover over the Customize button (if Divi is already enabled) or check the Live Preview button (if Divi is not the active theme)

  3. Check the path in the browser's bottom left corner

If it's different than Divi or Extra (depending on the theme you use), you will need to download the latest version from your Elegant Themes account and install it as a normal theme.

After the installation is done, you should receive future updates.

Note: After installing it, make sure to remove the old copy with the wrong folder name.

Check if the Plugin folder is correctly named

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard → Plugins → Installed Plugins

  2. Hover over the Activate, Deactivate, or Delete hyperlinks

  3. Check the path in the browser's bottom left corner

Depending on the plugin you use, the Path should include:

  • divi-builder - for the Divi Builder plugin

  • bloom - for the Bloom plugin

  • monarch - for the Monarch plugin

Notes:

  • If you have the correct folder name and still don't receive any notifications, you may be using a very old version of Monarch and Bloom. You can disable them temporarily, and you should see the updates showing up for the other products(e.g., Divi or Extra).

  • If you use very old versions of Bloom, Monarch, or Divi Builder plugins, you can deactivate them, delete them, and reinstall them after downloading the latest versions from your Elegant Themes account.

Also, make sure to check the How to Fix Theme and Plugins Updating Issues article in case you see the update notification.
