Updated today

Will Divi 5 cost extra money?

No, Divi 5 will be available free of charge to any Elegant Themes user with an active subscription.

Can I use Divi 5 Beta on a live production website?

Yes, you can use Divi 5 Beta on a live site, whether you are starting fresh or migrating from Divi 4. All of your Divi 4 content and third-party legacy modules will still work in backwards compatibility mode. Keep in mind this mode loads the Divi 4 framework, so you won’t see the full performance and stability improvements of Divi 5.

Before upgrading, we strongly recommend testing the update on a staging site first. This lets you confirm that your design, modules, and plugins behave as expected before making changes to your live website.

When you’re ready to move forward, create a complete backup of your website, including both your database and files. That way, if anything goes wrong, you can restore your site quickly.

The new Readiness System in Divi 5 will also help by showing which modules are fully compatible and which are still considered “legacy,” making it clear what’s ready and what may need attention.

Divi 5 is faster, more stable, and more reliable than Divi 4, but taking these precautions ensures a smooth transition.

Are all Divi 4 features available in Divi 5 Beta?

Most of the core Divi 4 features are available in Divi 5 Beta, and you also get access to powerful Divi 5 features that take Divi to the next level.

Some of Divi 4's features are still in development, including Full Site Editing, Draggable Spacing, Bulk Editing, and Quick Access. Other Divi 4 features, which are less used, are going to be deprecated, such as Quick Action and Split Testing.

How do I update Divi 5 Beta?

The Divi 5 Beta will automatically update through your WordPress Dashboard as new versions become available. We strongly recommend keeping your website up to date to ensure you have the latest stable build.

Where is the changelog for Divi 5 Beta?

Will Third-Party Divi modules and plugins work in Divi 5 Beta?

Many Divi Marketplace modules are already fully compatible with Divi 5. You can check compatibility in the right pane of each product page in the Divi Marketplace or by contacting the author directly.

For modules that have not yet been updated, Divi 5 includes backwards compatibility mode. This ensures that unsupported Divi 4 modules will still function on the front end. However, pages using legacy modules will not benefit from Divi 5’s performance improvements. Legacy modules can also be edited in the new Visual Builder, though some limitations remain, and certain field types are not yet supported.

Backwards compatibility is intended as a temporary bridge while creators continue updating their modules in preparation for the final release of Divi 5.

Are plugin authors responsible for compatibility issues in Divi 5 Beta?

No, plugin authors are not responsible for compatibility issues during the Beta phase. Divi 5 Beta is still a work in progress, and any issues encountered will likely be resolved as we approach the full release.

Plugin authors are responsible for updating their plugins to provide full Divi 5 support. However, you shouldn't expect third-party modules to be ready for Divi 5. Creators are working hard to create new versions of their modules in preparation for the final release of Divi 5.

Until then, legacy modules will function using Divi 5's backward compatibility mode.

What happens when I run the Divi 5 migrator?

The Divi 5 Migrator will parse all your website content and look for Divi 4 shortcodes. It will convert those shortcodes to the new Divi 5 format and update each post.

Modules that do not yet support Divi 5, such as modules from the Divi Marketplace, will not be converted and will continue to function using the legacy Divi 4 framework.

Pages that use such modules will not benefit from Divi 5's performance improvements.

The migrator makes sweeping changes to your entire site, so it should only be used for testing on non-production websites.

How can I check if a third-party module works with Divi 5?

You can check a module’s compatibility directly in the Divi Marketplace. Each product page includes a compatibility section in the side pane that indicates whether the module is compatible with Divi 5. If the information is not listed, you can contact the author directly to confirm.

Many Divi Marketplace creators are actively updating their products for Divi 5, and more products are becoming compatible every day as we approach the final release.

⚠︎ Note: If a product you use does not list Divi 5 compatibility, we encourage you to reach out to the author, as some creators are providing Divi 5 versions upon request.

How does backward compatibility work in Divi 5 Beta?

Divi 5 prioritizes backward compatibility, so most of your existing content and designs from Divi 4 should function correctly in the Beta. However, some features and modules from Divi 4 are temporarily unavailable in this early version.

Please check the Backward Compatibility and Third-Party Divi Module Support article for more information.

Will there be performance issues if I use third-party Divi modules in Divi 5 Beta?

Yes. Third-party modules that have not yet been updated for Divi 5 will run in compatibility mode, which may result in a performance hit since they continue to load the Divi 4 framework. This mode is only temporary and will be phased out as authors update their modules and as we approach the final release of Divi 5.

You can check whether a module is fully compatible with Divi 5 by reviewing the compatibility section in the side pane of its Divi Marketplace product page or by contacting the author directly.

⚠︎ Note: If a product you use does not list Divi 5 compatibility, we encourage you to reach out to the author, as some creators are providing Divi 5 versions upon request.

Why am I getting an orange warning in the admin bar?

This warning will appear if a page contains an unconverted Divi 4 module or if one of your plugins uses the legacy Divi 4 framework.

We built Divi 5 to be backward-compatible with Divi 4 plugins, such as modules from the Divi Marketplace. Until creators update their plugins for Divi 5, legacy plugins will continue to function using the legacy Divi 4 framework.

However, loading the Divi 4 framework comes at a performance cost. The orange warning informs you that a plugin you are using is tapping into the legacy framework, and the page is not benefiting from Divi's performance improvements.

It's not an error. It is just there for informational purposes during the alpha and beta phases.

When will full compatibility with third-party products be available?

You can confirm whether a module is compatible with Divi 5 by checking the compatibility section in the side pane of its product page on the Divi Marketplace or by contacting the author directly.

Marketplace creators are actively updating their modules for Divi 5, and most third-party modules will be ready by the time of the final release. Until then, legacy modules will continue to function through Divi 5’s backwards compatibility mode.

⚠︎ Note: If a product you use does not list Divi 5 compatibility, we encourage you to reach out to the author, as some creators are providing Divi 5 versions upon request.

Can I switch back to Divi 4 after testing Divi 5 Beta?

Yes. If you decide Divi 5 Beta is not the right fit yet, you can easily switch back by following our guide: How to Rollback to Divi 4.

⚠︎ Note: As with any major update, we recommend creating a full backup of your website before upgrading, so you can quickly restore your site if needed.

Will Divi 5 Beta break my website?

No. Divi 5 Beta has been built with stability in mind, and our Migrator system is specifically designed to make the transition from Divi 4 to Divi 5 as smooth as possible. While you may encounter the occasional bug since this is still a Beta release, our goal is for your website to run seamlessly on Divi 5.

⚠︎ Note: As with any major update, we recommend creating a full backup of your website before upgrading, so you can quickly restore your site if needed.

What if something breaks after I run the migrator?

We recommend creating a full backup of your website before migrating, just as a best practice with any major update.

That said, you can feel confident knowing the Divi 5 Migrator automatically creates a backup of your post content. If you run into any issues, you can easily restore that backup and rollback to Divi 4 at any time.

What should I do if I encounter bugs or issues?

If you run into any bugs or issues while testing Divi 5 Beta, we encourage you to share your feedback. Every report helps us improve Divi 5 and ensures a smoother transition when the full version is released.

For detailed instructions, see our guide: How to Report a Divi 5 Beta Bug.

When will the full version of Divi 5 be available?

Our team is working hard to make Divi 5 the best it can be. We’re moving as quickly as possible, focusing on fixing the remaining bugs and incorporating valuable feedback from our Beta testers. Official release is expected to be shipped by the end of 2025 or early 2026.

Will child themes & custom CSS / modules (custom code) still work as before?

Yes. Custom CSS, child themes, and custom code should continue to work. Some adjustments may be necessary if code depends on internals that have changed, but backwards compatibility is a priority.
